ABOUT US:

THE MUSKOX
PHILOSOPHY

How We Work and Why

The Muskox philosophy is rooted in a simple belief: exceptional coffee should create value for everyone it touches. As producers ourselves, we know the care, skill, and risk behind every harvest, which is why traceability, fairness, and farmer empowerment sit at the heart of everything we do. From our communities in Colombia to roasters across the UK and Europe, we are building a more transparent way to source green coffee: one that protects quality, honours producers, and strengthens the connection between origin and cup.

Our work is rooted in Cesar, Colombia, the region we call home, and the place where our relationships with coffee producers begin. Here, coffee represents dedication, community, and the shared ambition to build a more sustainable future for farming families. By operating directly in Cesar, we are able to stay close to the people, processes, and decisions behind each coffee, protecting traceability, supporting fairer outcomes for producers, and bringing roasters a deeper connection to origin.

"Traceability is not just knowing where coffee comes from. It means honouring everyone who helped it reach you."

Why Natural Coffees?

At Muskox, our focus on natural coffees is both a celebration of tradition and a commitment to responsible processing.

Natural coffee has long been part of Colombia’s coffee story, allowing the fruit, the land, and the character of each harvest to express themselves with depth and complexity. For us, specialising in naturals is a way to honour that tradition while carefully refining it through knowledge, control, and patience. Every stage of the process is managed with attention to detail, from cherry selection to drying, so that the final coffee reflects both the richness of its origin and the care behind its production.

But our choice is not only about flavour. Natural processing allows us to produce exceptional coffees without wasting water or generating polluted wastewater that could affect local rivers, streams, or surrounding ecosystems. In a region where water is precious and deeply connected to community life, this matters to us. By focusing on naturals, we can protect quality while also protecting the environment that makes coffee possible.

For Muskox, natural coffee is not a shortcut or a trend. It is a process that demands discipline, precision, and respect: for the fruit, for the land, and for the people who depend on both.
